Water vision 2015 has been developed in a collaboration between the Danish organisations Danish Ministry of the Environment, Confederation of Danish Industry, Dansk Miljøteknologi and DANVA. The vision is based on a water summit meeting held on 25 February 2015. Here is an extract of the content:
Surrounded by water, Danes have always taken pride in preserving it. Denmark holds a long tradition of integrated water management and will take responsibility and contribute to solving the major global water challenges.
Water consumption in Denmark comes entirely from groundwater and the water is clean, safe and drinkable – even tap water is not chlorinated.
Thanks to a highly efficient distribution system, bacteria and other impurities are minimized, energy consumption is minimized, and water loss in pipelines is reduced to less than 8 percent.
Waste water treatment is another area where Denmark offers expertise and is acclaimed internationally for its in-depth know-how, technology and solutions. A great example of this is the capital of Copenhagen where the harbour is clean enough to swim in.
Danish water solutions deliver livability for the people and the planet. We aim at turning global challenges into possibilities for sustainable growth.
